At Island Pet Hospital, we offer a range of emergency and medical surgeries to help treat veterinary diseases and conditions or to repair injuries obtained due to trauma.

Our Las Vegas vets regularly conduct the elective and non-elective surgeries below:

• Soft Tissue Surgery

  For cats and dogs that are suffering from ear, nose, or throat disorders, we can offer soft tissue surgical operations.

  These procedures can also be performed for hepatic, urogenital, oncological, cardiothoracic, gastrointestinal, and skin disorders. 

• Spaying & Neutering

  When we spay or neuter cats and dogs, we surgically sterilize them to prevent disease and give them a longer life expectancy. 

• C-Sections

  During Caesarean sections, we surgically remove puppies or kittens from their mother's uterus.

  We usually perform C-sections when the mother can't give birth naturally. 

•  Ocular

  If your cat or dog is suffering from eye pain, redness, or other symptoms in or around their eyes, they might require ocular surgery.

  Common ocular procedures for pets are cherry eye surgery, eyelid tumor removals, ectropion surgery, entropion surgery, exenteration of the orbit, and cataract surgery.

• Orthopedic Surgery

  Orthopedic surgeries address diseases and injuries of the bones, ligaments, joints, tendons, and other skeletal structures in your cat or dog. If your pet is experiencing an injury or condition that needs advanced specialized care your vet will refer your cat or dog to an orthopedic surgeon near Las Vegas.

• Dental Surgery

  Our veterinarians can perform dental surgeries for cats and dogs. Some of the dental surgeries we offer to include gum disease treatment, jaw fracture repair, and tooth extractions. 

The Veterinary Surgery Process

We realize that the thought of having to bring your pet in for surgery can be scary. We want you to know that we only recommend surgery as a treatment option when it is in the best interest of your animal companion.

Our team will make sure that you completely understand the reasons why we are recommending veterinary surgery, and that you are comfortable deciding to move forward with the procedure.

If your cat, dog, or other exotic pet requires advanced care, our vets will refer you to a veterinary surgeon or veterinary surgical specialist near Las Vegas, and work with them closely to ensure your pet receives the best possible care. 

Surgical protocols at our clinic include:

Pre-surgical assessments. Your vet will confirm the specifics of your pet's procedure, implement a physical examination of the patient, and make sure blood tests have been completed and reviewed in order to determine if your pet faces any risk of anesthesia-related complications.

Dedicated surgical suites. Each one of our surgeries is conducted in a designated surgical suite. This room is kept fully sterile to prevent infection and cross-contamination.

Surgical attire. Our staff wears disposable caps and masks the entire time that they are in the surgical suite. Those involved in the procedure itself will also wear sterile gowns and single-use gloves.

Sterile packs and equipment. We carefully sterilize, clean, and wrap our surgical instruments and equipment before every surgery.
