Dr.Darrell Dawsey was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He attended LSU during his undergraduate studies, and attended Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine where he earned his DVM in 2005. He moved to Las Vegas, NV after graduating, and began his career in veterinary medicine. He became the Medical Director of Island Pet Hospital in April of 2016. Dr. Dawsey’s professional interest include advanced dentistry, pain management, internal medicine, and preserving the human animal bond.
When Dr. Dawsey is not treating his four legged patients he enjoys snowboarding, diving, shooting sporting clays, live music and adding stamps to his passport.
Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Dr. Alyssa Watson spent many happy days on her grandfather’s dairy farm tending to the horses, sheep, cattle, and chickens, and dreaming of one day becoming a veterinarian. She completed her bachelor degree at St Olaf College in Minnesota with a dual major in Chemistry and Ancient Studies. After graduating with honors, she was accepted to Iowa State University and moved back to Iowa to attend vet school. Her childhood dream became a reality in 2003 when she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and began practicing at a mixed animal hospital in Reno, Nevada. Dr.Watson worked in Reno for almost seven years before moving to Las Vegas to be closer to family. Dr.Watson’s professional interests include canine and feline dermatology, reproduction, and soft tissue surgery. She is the mother of two handsome young boys and they share their home with a French Mastiff and a Siamese cat.
Dr.Jennifer Hagewood obtained her D.V.M. degree from Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. She got her initial Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Medicine from Central Michigan University in 1998. She originally worked as an athletic and personal trainer in Michigan before returning to school to become a veterinarian in 2004. She spent her first three years after vet school practicing at a small animal clinic in Orlando, Florida before moving to Las Vegas in 2011. She currently resides here with her husband, Pete who is a professional golf instructor, and her three dogs, three cats and African grey parrot. Dr. Hagewood’s veterinary interests include small animal internal medicine, rehabilitation, and emergency medicine. In her off time, she enjoys running, hiking and reading. When not at the hospital, she is apt to be enjoying the outdoors with her family.
